Rockblok | Team Thanks Giving

BBQ, Camp Fire, Team Games, Presentations and Gifts all part of our team thanksgiving, a chance for our instructors to unwind and let their hair down and for our management team to say a “BIG THANK YOU” for all their hard work, input and delivering the high standards that we set ourselves here at Rockblok.

First up and to get proceedings under way we exchanged our white instructor helmets for for a more jovial approach and comedy value and donned our evening head dress for the wackiest hat parade. Glitzy top hats, sombreros, a halo and more were all part of the selection with the first prize for the wackiest going to Oli and his tinsel halo (brilliant), with a very close second coming in with Lisa and her glitzy top hat.

For our mini team games team captains for the evening would be Steve and Lisa, to keep things fair and square teams were made up of members picked from, yes a wacky hat!

With the camp fire and BBQ ignited, it was time for our own mini team building exercise. “LET THE GAMES BEGIN”.

First up five-a-side football, hilarious and for some a little bit of a wake up call re-fitness! (no need to mention names here), the winning team in this category? Yes obviously “team Steve”. Next up the plank race, should be easy and pretty much straight forward you’d think! Work as a team, communicate, balance both feet on the planks and tension the rope while progressing forward. OK a little balance needed. This saw team Steve in the lead once more with team Lisa struggling to stay upright, oh dear!

Team Steve with Oli, Phil, Rick (resident pirate) and Holly well in the lead with two categories completed and lots of points under their belt and the final games ahead, chance for team Lisa to pick up some points, and her self!.

With arrows in hands lets see who can hit the board, a darts match to complete the final game, OK not the most adventurous sport but great fun and a change is as good a rest as they say. With team Lisa managing to get at least one shot on target (actually hitting the board) things were looking up, seeing team Steve challenged for the first time in our mini games tournament. One more round of darts with team Lisa steadily creeping up the scores, a draw was in sight with Rick the pirate to throw for team Steve, no blind fold needed and he misses the board! Team Lisa, Tash, Gemma, Matt and Henry taking the trophy. Its the taking part that counts not to mention the great fun had by all! What a laugh!

Time for a well earned rest, burger, hot dog and refreshments!

Seated around the warming glow of our campfire, embers ready and perfect for toasting the evenings pudding, marshmallows were the order of the day, perfect! How many Holly?

All full up and rested we took the opportunity to make our official thanks to our centres instructor team by way of an appreciation certificate and gifts of which the Rab beany, Tash has been wearing ever since and seems to be setting a trend!

Unfortunately two very valued members of our team were unable to make it to to the evening proceedings so we would like to also say a “BIG THANK YOU” to Fiona, who leaves us to take up her chosen career in Architecture and to Hannah who is returning from an Expedition with British Exploring in Northern Norway but soon to be back with us for a few days.

We would just like to say, it’s all in “THE TEAM” we value you all very much, Thank you, Steve and Lisa..
